Harvest at the Domaine de l’Arjolle and at Château de Margon generally starts late in August on our Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes, and ends about eight weeks later by picking the fruits for our late harvest wine “Lyre”. During this period we create in our wineries the flavours of some 20 different wines.
Throughout the years, we have synchronized our wine making process with the potential of every single vineyard, to obtain wines that offer the greatest drinking pleasure to you. Each of our wines requires an especially adapted wine making process, to develop the individuality of our wines and to admit that each vintage is self-expressif.
During harvest, every step results from a real collaboration between the vineyard team (Charles, Guilhem and Roland) and the winery team (François, Roch and Louis-Marie).
It’s a period of synergy and trust for us, when the wine grower leaves the fruits of his work to the skills of the wine maker.
All our wines are made in our cellars. Roughly 40% of our production ages in oak barrels for 6 to 12 months. The remaining wines get to maturity in traditional large oak vats for the red wines, or in stainless steel tanks for the white wines.
